Our massage school prepares students for a rewarding career in massage therapy! Here are our admission requirements.
What does it take to get into our massage therapy school?
Sound like you? Here's what you need to do next:
Finger Lakes School of Massage has an "Early Application Deadline" for applicants in each cohort. This deadline is set two weeks before the scholarship application deadline. The intention of this deadline is to facilitate a more timely application process, to allow students adequate time to apply for the FLSM and/or TMO scholarships and to ensure Enrolled status is easily reached by the first day of school. Those students applying to the cohort after the deadline are still eligible to begin that cohort.
A prospective student may be asked to schedule an additional telephone or personal interview with a school administrator and/or complete our Admission Assessment.
To apply for transfer credit, simply submit your completed FLSM Application, and all relevant transcripts and detailed course descriptions. We will review your records and inform you of any credits you may be eligible to transfer into our program, and will at that time arrange for you to take any applicable challenge exam to evaluate your knowledge of transferred material. Tuition will be discounted in a pro-rated manner, reflecting hours transferred to the program.
If you already have 1000 hours of coursework, we suggest you contact New York State directly regarding licensure application.Download Transfer of Credit Policy
For students who have previously attended FLSM and not graduated, there is an extra step to take when re-applying. Click here for more information.Download Re-application Policy
Upon graduating, our students are equipped and eligible to sit for the New York State licensing examination, as well as the Federation for State Massage Therapy Boards' (FSMTB) MBLEX exam, which allows graduates to practice massage therapy in most states.
If you plan to put your massage therapy education to use outside of New York, make sure to research the requirements in that particular state. The FSMTB website has a comprehensive list of state licensure requirements and is a good place to begin your research.
We are firm believers in the value of continuing education and are delighted to support our graduates with a variety of evening and weekend workshops.
