TABLE Thai Massage: A Dynamic Healing Art – Ithaca
December 18, 2016
Thai Massage for TABLE means that we will be using massage tables instead of mats as an alternative to working on the floor. This could be desirable for those who have limited space in their massage room or have knee problems that limit their ability to squat or kneel easily. The workshop will introduce the history and theory of Thai Yoga Massage, as well as the techniques of rocking, palming and thumbing using proper body mechanics. All of this will be combined into a valuable and practical approach to giving a one hour (though potentially much longer) Thai Yoga Massage sequence. It is important that students have a conscious approach to touch, and a general understanding of body alignment. A thorough and detailed binder of information will be provided, including images of the sequence with in-depth descriptions of each move. Along with this, a DVD of the sequence with verbal instruction is also included. Wholesome snacks and tea will be provided.Diana Brenes Seiler has been practicing Thai Yoga Massage since 2003 and has worked with over 6000 clients. She has been teaching at the Finger Lakes School of Massage in Mount Kisco since it opened in 2008. She began teaching Thai Massage about a year later. She has a private practice and works at the Omega Institute’s Wellness Center. It is with great pleasure that she shares all that she has learned from this incredible art form and from the multitude of incredible teachers that she has had the privilege of studying with. Diana has been to Thailand (including Laos) twice to study Thai Massage, along with studying in the states and in Canada. She is honored to share this amazing art form with others!
