Student Spotlight: Cindy Diano

FLSM Kisco SoM Cindy DianoCindy Diano, a student at our Mount Kisco campus, was chosen as FLSM’s Student of the Month for August because she is “focused, has a positive attitude, and offers respect towards classmates and staff.”

Name one person who has had an impact on your life and explain why:
The one person that truly had and still has an impact on my life is my mother. She was always there for me. She supported me through my entire academic , social, and spiritual career. I do not know where my life would be without her. My mother took me in when I was 8-weeks-old after my biological mother died in a fire. My father could not take care of me and asked kindly for someone at the hospital to watch over me. That is how I ended up in Westchester NY with a wonderful and loving family.

How did you become interested in becoming a massage therapist?
I originally wanted to be a massage therapist from a young age. I always enjoyed making people feel at ease when I would give them a massage. There were many times in my life when people told me I had a gift, even as an amateur massage therapist with no experience.

What led you to choose your current school as your massage therapy school?
I was hooked from the campus tour. Finger Lakes School of Massage has such a warm and welcoming environment.

What is your favorite thing about school and why?
My favorite thing is being welcomed to school every day by the teachers, my classmates, and the administration.

Name one thing you cannot live without:
I cannot live without my family and friends. Without my support system I would never have made it this far.

Name one country you would love to visit:
I would love to visit China. I have never been to Asia and I would love to learn about my roots, culture, and family.

Are you a dog or cat person? Or both or neither?
I love dogs and cats. However, I am allergic to cats so I will say I am a dog person.

State three adjectives that describe you:
Three adjectives that would describe me would be tenacious, patient, and athletic.

What is your go-to song when you need to get motivated?
“I’m a Believer” by the Monkees.

What are your plans after graduating from massage therapy school?
After I graduate, I plan to go on vacation and study for my boards exam, then start acquiring clients. I also plan to work at a gym and do some personal training on the side.
